Emergency electrical service
Situation:
While removing massive ficus trees, two back hoes unearthed electrical conduit and wire, pulling panels, breakers, and contactors from their foundations, resulting in power failure to the community.
Result:
Sunset was dispatched within two hours and restored power on a holiday weekend, ensuring that the community was safely lit again. Sunset replaced all damaged components of the electrical system so that the residents could rely on consistent power and light for years to come.

Aesthetic improvement, lighting retrofit, and light output increase
Situation:
A 30-foot ceiling with heavy wood beams and T12 double- lens fixtures was outdated in appearance, energy inefficient, and provided low light levels.
Result:
Sunset removed the old, energy-inefficient products and installed high-performing, sustainable lamps and ballasts that were in accordance with LEED, ASHRAE, and Title 24 standards. Not only was the lighting renovation a step in the “green” direction, but the new, bright white, polished lenses that Sunset installed gave more light to customers and employees and provided an attractive contrast with the dark wood beams.

Photometric design and new light pole installation
Situation:
The property owners acquired a dark parking lot bordered by residential neighborhoods. They required proper light levels for safety and security, all while avoiding any light pollution.
Result:
Sunset delivered a fully-managed solution by designing the fixture layout, engineering the photometric plan, and obtaining city approval. Sunset then ran new underground power and installed 25’ poles with energy-efficient super-white HID fixtures, while maintaining internationally recognized light-level guidelines. The end result was a fully illuminated, safe parking lot with zero light pollution into neighbors’ homes.

Service:
Lighting design and energy efficiency
Situation: 18-theatre complex had 3 challenges:
- A magnificent, graphically enhanced exterior wall was an eye-catcher, but also a chronic source of problems with frequent lighting outages and high energy costs.
- Inefficient incandescent fixtures were not fully featuring the theatre’s elegant interior architectural columns.
- The auditorium emergency circuits were tied into theatre equipment and were no longer functional.
Result:
- Sunset replaced the leaking exterior fixtures with weatherproof T5 wall-washers that glazed the wall with an ambient glow, providing a welcoming appearance to customers and eliminating maintenance expenses after every rainstorm.
- By installing solid-state LED fixtures, Sunset reduced energy expenses while enhancing the appearance of the interior architecture of the theatre.
- After rewiring the emergency circuits to each auditorium and replacing an antiquated dimming system, the theatre could rest assured knowing that the dark theatres would instantly turn to full illumination in the event of an emergency power outage.
